After the invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and in response to Western sanctions, Russia banned residents of ‘unfriendly countries’ (read: the West) from accessing the Cosmodrome Baikanur. As is well known, this is a part of Kazakhstan rented by Russia that has an illustrious history and from where launches into space still take place, including manned launches.
Until 2022, we organised several successful trips to manned launches. We would like to resume this and in March there were suddenly reports from Kazakhstan that Russia would make visits possible again in mid-June. We are anxiously waiting further news!
By the way, the town of Baikanur can still be visited by everyone and is not uninteresting, with a space museum and a school with all kind of space objects and subjects. Plus, you feel like you are in Russia with Russian police and the Ruble as the preferred currency!
