The Bronze Ring of Sary-Arka

A program foremost for history lovers that enjoy cycling. Or for cycling lovers with an interest in history. This is not a heavy mountainbike tour with much climbing and descending, but more like a historical cycling tour. And offering plenty of nature and open spaces. Most of the nights will be spend in tents in free nature. You will cycle on asphalted roads some 70% of the way, and 30% on off-road tracks.

In Central Kazakhstan one finds a large number of archeological monuments from the Bronze Age. The landscape is mostly steppe, alternated by a number of oasis with mountains and forest, as well as rivers and lakes.

This active travel program will take you through these historical lands. In 20 days you cycle almost 1,100 kms while enjoying the open spaces, the oasis, the steppe animals like foxes, hares, elk and especially birds (amongst which the steppe eagle) and the archeological finds. You will spend many nights in tents, several nights in the homes of Kazakh people, and two nights in camps of geologists and archeologists.
