Rockets from Baikanur

A tour to a piece of Russia in Kazakhstan. The Cosmodrome is situated in the Kazakh steppes, but leased and operated by Russia. These days all the world's space travel starts at Baikanuras well as numerous unmanned rockets and satellites. Though Baikanur is not intended to be a touristic destination it's possible to visit the place now!
Not surprisingly your steps will be monitored closely while visiting Baikanur and you'll make your excursions with the attendance of a guide. It's also not a place for cheap travel.
On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin in his Vostok was the first human being to be launched into space - from Baikanur. He returned safely. During your stay at the 4,000 km2 large Baikanur you can visit a museum dedicated to this historic event, Gagarin's house and other interesting places.  
On the proposed tour you'll also visit the city of Almaty and the historic Turkestan mausuleum. You travel from Almaty to Baikanur by plane and return by train.
