Cooking Tour to Almaty

Cooking Tour to Almaty

A new and unique tour starting in 2011. A combination of learning about four Central-Asian cuisines and enjoying a cultural experience while staying in a yurt with a Kazakh family.
Kazakhstan harbors a great diversity of ethnic groups, and hence a great diversity in cuisine, which are usually enjoyed by all groups. Kazakh cuisine uses much meat (especially mutton) and little vegetables, a result of living in the steppes as nomads for thousands of years. In opposite of this Uzbek and Uyghur cuisine use much vegetables while Chinese influences are clearly visible in the Uyghur cuisine.
Russian influence in Central-Asia is big, and so is the popularity of its (more European) cuisine.
Except for cooking and tasting you will also have plenty of chances to investigate and enjoy the city of Almaty and its neighbouring mountain range.
