Day 1

Day travel distance: 
10 km

Flight from Astana to Zhezkazgan, the most centrally located town of Kazakhstan. Arrival at 16:45. Exploring the city, excursion to the historico-archaeological museum. Dinner in a cafe. Accommodation in the hotel.

Day 2

Day travel distance: 
130 km

Breakfast. Traveling from Zhezkazgan to Ayakkamyr mausoleum (55 km, 55 min). Watching mausoleum of the Golden Horde period. Traveling from Ayakkamyr to the medieval settlement Baskamyr (15 km, 15 min). Traveling to Ulytau village – eco-site (60 km, 1 hours), visiting the monument of unity of the people of Kazakhstan, erected in the geographical center of the country, on the way. Lunch in a cafe.
Now the real safari will start. And from now on, accommodation and all meals in the steppes and semi-deserts!

Dag 3-9

Day travel distance: 
100-400 km

Traveling from Ulytau into the steppe, and from here they will travel with the Saiga rangers on dirt roads through the steppes. The route is constantly changing each year, due to the highly mobile lifestyle of the Saiga. This package includes overnight stays in tents and food in the field.

In addition to the Saiga we will also witness the following animals:
different suslik species (Spermophilus sp.), endemic jerboas: Selevinia (Selevinia betpakdalensis), Comb-toed Jerboa (Paradipus ctenodactylus), the Three-toed and Five-toed dwarf Jerboas (Salpingotus heptneri, salpingotus pallidus, Cardiocranius). Steppe Marmot (Marmota boback), steppe polecat (Mustela eversmanni), Wild Boar (Sus scrofa), Korsak Fox (Vulpes corsak), Badger (Meles meles), Swamp Cat (Felis chaus), Long-eared hedgehog (Erinaceus auritus), Long-quilled Hedgehog (Piracohinus hypomelas), Tolai Hare (Lepus tolai).
Potentially: Kulan (Equus hemionus), goitered gazelle or djeiran (Gazella subgutturosa subgutturosa)

And also a wide variety of birds:
Demoiselle crane (Anthropoides virgo), Common crane (Grus grus), Pallas’s sandgrouse (Syrrhaptes paradoxus), Steppe Eagle, (Aquila nipalensis), Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysactor), Long-legged Buzzard (Buteo rufinus), Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), Saker Falcon (Falco cherrug), Black Vulture (Aegypius monachus), Sociable Plower (Vanellus gregarius ), (White-winged Lark (Melanocorypha leucoptera), Black Lark (M.yeltoniensis), Little Bustard (Tetrax tetrax), Great Bustard (Otis tarda, Houbara), Bustard (Chlamydotis undulate), etc.
 

Day 10

Arrival to Zhezkasgan for lunch time. Lunch in a café. Flight from Astana to Zhezkasgan (17:35– 18:55).
