Thematic Tours
For practicing or researching some interesting phenomenons Kazakhstan proves to be a fertile soil. For example aerospace. Nearby the city of Kyzlorda, relatively close to the infamous 'shrinking' Lake Aral (fortunately the shrinkage has come to a halt) one finds the internationally renowned space center Baikanur. It was from here that, back in 1961, Yuri Gagarin was launched into space as the first man ever, and the space station is still into (heavily) use. These days all missions to the international space station ISS are launched from Baikanur.
It is possible to visit Baikanur, though the paperwork takes at least sixs weeks - after all this is a piece of Russia in Kazakhstan and paperwork goes through Moscow.
The origin of the tulip lies in Central Asia and Kazakhstan and even today more than 30 varieties of the flower can be found in the wild! Every year in April-May you can join a group tour to the origin of the tulip in Kazakhstan.
Not only because it's a vast country, but also because it lies on the crossroads of two bird migration routes, there are great possibilities for birding in Kazakhstan. Check out our group tour in spring.
There's no ready-made program, but in case you wish to skate on the world-famous skating rank Medeo nearby Almaty, where up to the advent of the indoor skating ranks almost all worldrecords were established and broken, we can make an arrangement for you.
