Tigers roaming again in Kazakhstan!?
Tigers roaming again in Kazakhstan!?
The WWF and Kazakhstani Ministery are working out a comprehensive plan to re-introduce the tiger in the Lake Balgash region. The original tiger species living in that area was the Caspian - or Turan - tiger, which became extinct in the early seventies. In the current plan they wish to introduce the genetically identical Amur tiger. Studies show that a habitat of 400,000 hectares is available for the tiger at Lake Balgash!
